The MXit Home Screen
Hooray! MXit finally makes it’s iPhone debut! Okay, so finally was about a month ago – I’m just a little bit behind!
I wouldn’t call myself a MXit expert. Or even a seasoned user. But I do use it every now and then. And previously, every time I wanted to use MXit, I had to dig out an old phone to use it on. Not so anymore! Now I can chat to my buddies using the best phone in the world!
Okay, so the application isn’t perfect: is has a few issues. But it’s still does what I want it to: chat. Every now and then the application complains about low memory, but it still continues to work, so it’s not really much of a problem. Okay, maybe just an annoyance.
Admittedly, it is a little strange using MXit without typing on physical keys. I actually think I type quicker on a T9 predictive text phone that on my iPhone. On the positive side, this might get my typing speed up!
One feature that I think is pretty cool is the landscape mode. It works on the MXit home screen and in the chat screen. It gives a much bigger keyboard, and in my opinion, makes the application fantastic!

iPhone Home Screen
Okay, so I’ve had it for a week already, but I was too busy playing with it to write about it! This is, quite simply, the best phone, and the most fun that I’ve had in ages! It does everything that my Windows Mobile phone did and more. And it does it beautifully!
One of the best points for me is the lack of stylus. I don’t miss it one bit! This means, of course, that there’s one less thing for me to break. And without a stylus there’s less chance of the screen getting scratched. Shew!
I’m afraid that my iPod Classic is going to be slightly neglected now… The iPhone i may only have an 8GB capacity, but that’s still enough for most of my music, a movie or two, and a bunch of photos. Oh yes, and games! I’m not normally one to play games, but I’m feeling inspired! Tap Tap Revenge, here we come!
I’m still trying to get an idea of how long the battery will last under normal usage conditions, but I just haven’t been able to leave the phone alone! So at the moment it lasts about a day… But at least I’m having fun! And it’s not so bad carrying a USB cable in your pocket to charge your phone with!
That’s all for now – it’s time for breakfast!
I couldn’t help myself… I bought myself a new camera for Christmas! There just happened to be a special on the camera that I fancied at the same time as I had exactly the right amount of money… Coincidence: I think not!
This camera has just the right amount of “gadget-ness” for me: it has a 2.7″ touch screen, shoots at 8.1 mega pixels, has 4GB of internal memory, 1cm macro mode and cool things like face detection and smile shutter.
What I do like about the camera is it’s compact size. Oh, and the lens does not extend from the camera as was the case with my DSC-W70. So now when the battery dies I am not stuck with the lens sticking out! Nice.
Did I say touch screen? There are a grand total of 5 buttons on this camera – the remainder are on the screen. And this menu system seems to be the most intuitive so far (I can actually find the options I’m looking for…).
The one feature that has been an instant success with my friends and I is the smile shutter. Somehow the camera decides when you’re smiling, and then automatical
ly takes the picture. This has been the cause of many terrible pictures…
So far the only aspect of the camera that I don’t like is the lack of view finder. My DSC-W70 had
that – and you could turn off the screen to save battery. Not so with this one. But I’m getting over it! Alltogether this is a camera that I love! And the macro mode is rather incredible too!
From Flavours of Entanglement by Alanis Morissette
My house, my role My friends, my man
My devotion to god
All the more feels indefinite
Nothing’s been clear Nothing’s been in
Nothing’s felt true
And I’ve never had both feet in
Nothing’s belonged
Nothing’s been yes
Nowhere’s been home
And I’m ready to be limbo no more
My taste, my peers
My identity, my affiliation
All the more feels indefinite
Nothing’s been clear
Nothing’s been in
Nothing’s felt true
And I’ve never had both feet in
Nothing’s belonged
Nothing’s been yes
Nowhere’s been home
And I’m ready to be limbo no more
I sit with filled frames
And my books and my dogs at my feet
My friends by my side
My past in a heap
Thrown out most of my things
Only kept what I need to carve
Something consistent and notably me
Tattoo on my skin
My teacher’s in heart
My house is a home
Something at last I can feel a part of
Sense of myself
My purpose is clear
My roots in the ground
Something at last I can feel a part of
Something aligned To finally commit
Somewhere I belong
Cuz I’m ready to be limbo no more
My wisdom applied
A firm foundation
A vow to myself
‘Cuz I’m ready to be limbo no more
