Dillon got an iPhone (eventually!)

iPhone Home Screen

iPhone Home Screen

Okay, so I’ve had it for a week already, but I was too busy playing with it to write about it! This is, quite simply, the best phone, and the most fun that I’ve had in ages! It does everything that my Windows Mobile phone did and more. And it does it beautifully!

One of the best points for me is the lack of stylus. I don’t miss it one bit! This means, of course, that there’s one less thing for me to break. And without a stylus there’s less chance of the screen getting scratched. Shew!

I’m afraid that my iPod Classic is going to be slightly neglected now… The iPhone i may only have an 8GB capacity, but that’s still enough for most of my music, a movie or two, and a bunch of photos. Oh yes, and games! I’m not normally one to play games, but I’m feeling inspired! Tap Tap Revenge, here we come!

I’m still trying to get an idea of how long the battery will last under normal usage conditions, but I just haven’t been able to leave the phone alone! So at the moment it lasts about a day… But at least I’m having fun! And it’s not so bad carrying a USB cable in your pocket to charge your phone with!

That’s all for now – it’s time for breakfast!

New Camera!

I couldn’t help myself… I bought myself a new camera for Christmas! There just happened to be a special on the camera that I fancied at the same time as I had exactly the right amount of money… Coincidence: I think not!

Sony DSC-T2This camera has just the right amount of “gadget-ness” for me: it has a 2.7″ touch screen, shoots at 8.1 mega pixels, has 4GB of internal memory, 1cm macro mode and cool things like face detection and smile shutter.

What I do like about the camera is it’s compact size. Oh, and the lens does not extend from the camera as was the case with my DSC-W70. So now when the battery dies I am not stuck with the lens sticking out! Nice.

Did I say touch screen? There are a grand total of 5 buttons on this camera – the remainder are on the screen. And this menu system seems to be the most intuitive so far (I can actually find the options I’m looking for…).

The one feature that has been an instant success with my friends and I is the smile shutter. Somehow the camera decides when you’re smiling, and then automatical

ly takes the picture. This has been the cause of many terrible pictures…

So far the only aspect of the camera that I don’t like is the lack of view finder. My DSC-W70 had

that – and you could turn off the screen to save battery. Not so with this one. But I’m getting over it! Alltogether this is a camera that I love! And the macro mode is rather incredible too!

Birthday parties everywhere!

Well, I had a weekend choc-full of birthday parties! Three, to be exact! Yesterday was Cameron‘s first party, last night was Lorna‘s 20th, and today was Catherine‘s 31st. Shew! I’ve been terribly well-fed!

I do love socialising, so this has been an absolutely fantastic weekend with both of my loves: friends and food!

And if you’re curious to see what happened at the parties, then head over to gallery.kungpow.org and have a squiz! I’ve also uploaded a stack of other pictures that I’ve taken, so look around and experience a glimpse of what it’s like to be Dillon!

Have a look at this…

My Desktop Background

I am thoroughly impressed with myself. I have taken a photograph and I’m now using it as my desktop background – that’s how good it is! (Even if I do say so myself…)

Please give me your comments on the picture. I’d love to hear from you!

Also, I’ve started using the Lightbox 2 WordPress plugin for displaying pictures. Pretty nifty, don’t you think?

Well it’s about time!

Sony DSC-W70

Sony DSC-W70

Guess what? After what seems like years, I have eventually forked over the money and bought myself a digital camera! Hooray! And just because I have a website, I’ll be uploading all the snaps that I take for anyone who cares to have a look!

For those of you who are interested, my camera is a Sony DSC-W70. It’s a 7.2 Megapixel camera which takes what I think are fantastic pictures. You can mozey on over to gallery.dillon.co.za to check them out if you like…
